11 positive things of the "terrible" two years

Some fathers and mothers already know them perfectly, others are living them and the rest have only heard horror stories about this famous and feared stage in the lives of children.

Terrible or not, the truth is that the two years are very special because they mark the beginning of the independence of our children: They start to make their own decisions and realize that they can do more things without the help of mom or dad.

I share one list of positive things about the terrible two, so that we always remember that even the most difficult stages have their good side.

It is the age of discovery

Although our children since they are babies are constantly discovering the world around them, at two years is when the real adventure begins. They are already able to walk and travel the world on their own, unlike before they could only see and touch things when mom or dad approached them.

The beauty of this part is that everything is new to them, so they are constantly discovering, experimenting and learning.

They infected you with their capacity for wonder

Before I had my daughter, they didn't usually amaze or excite me such simple things as blowing bubbles, seeing a bird or hearing an unusual sound. Children at this age where they are scouts openly express their surprise and joy to discover something new for them.

This is how now, through their eyes, we can see in a new way the world around us and be amazed by the wonders that we regularly overlook as adults and get carried away by the responsibilities of day to day.

His pranks, although sometimes incredible and disastrous, entertain us

When my daughter was a baby, my friends with older children warned me as a joke that I would enjoy her while being carried in my arms and not walking, because then I would pass her behind her running and surprising myself with the mischief I would do.

By way of prophecy, the two years came and it was as if a mischief switch had been activated inside it. And so they began to arrive, forcing me to hide my inevitable laugh when I saw the disaster I had made by taking one of my lipsticks and painting my face and whole hands, or seeing her run towards me without clothes from the waist down and with the diaper in the hand.

You are surprised by the perseverance that your child can have

Another name that I like to give at two years is "the age of the I", and this is one of the most repeated words at this stage of their lives, because begin to become independent and to want to do things for themselves.

What I like most about this "age of I" is seeing how persevering they can be, trying things over and over again. Surrendering is not an option for them, so if after several attempts they cannot do what they want on their own, they ask for help from mom or dad until what they want to achieve is done with so much energy.

No doubt his perseverance It is a great example Y motivation for ourselves let's fight and work for what we crave.

They begin to show love to those they love

Part of their development in these two years is that they begin to establish better social relationships with their family and their friends. Hugs, kisses and phrases of love begin to arrive to flood your love day. Until the most horrible day of the terrible two you forget with a kiss and a hug from your son.

You get excited with every new word they learn

What a thrill when our baby says her first word! In the two years they continue to learn new words every day, repeating what we say and begin to try forming phrases to communicate with us and that sound the most tender. A good idea to keep these beautiful moments is to collect the famous phrases of your children.

You value the good times more because now you live tantrums like never before

Every mom and dad reacts differently to tantrums in public, but we certainly all expect the same thing: that it ends soon. Although when we are in the middle of a tantrum in public we would like to disappear as if by magic, when our children are calm and affectionate, we learn to value that contrast and understand that even if there are bad times, the good times make everything worthwhile.

You learn to develop your patience more

Do you want to learn to be more patient? Have children They will test it everyday, regardless of who is present or where they are. Breathe, close your eyes and breathe. Remember that tantrums are passengers.

You completely lose your shame

Your child doesn't care if you're embarrassed Dance in public or if you sing horrible. At two years they push you to do things you normally wouldn't do, like having role-playing games and pretending voices to keep them entertained in boring moments, sing children's songs at full throttle, dance ridiculously and make the clown in order to make them laugh.

You have a companion that will follow you everywhere

Children are imitators by nature and after two years we begin to notice this characteristic of them, seeing how they repeat many of our actions or even begin to express yourself like us, because for them we are their role model.

I love it when my daughter follows me and likes to do things that I enjoy doing, it is an excellent time to share something together, although we admit that sometimes we use at our convenience that fanaticism that they feel towards us as parents to do what we do we want to do.

No day is boring

Ask anyone who has a two-year-old son or has already gone through this stage. I assure you that no one can tell you that "today he did nothing" or that nothing different happened (or completely weird!). Every day with a 2-year-old child is completely different, full of funny stories and anecdotes.

For me the famous terrible two are not so terrible, they are only a stage in which our children begin to discover their emotions and to understand that they are independent beings to you, capable of making their own decisions and in which sometimes we have to deal with them while they learn to recognize and understand their emotions. But as long as we know how to take them by the hand and be patient, both parents and children can enjoy the good times, without letting ourselves be carried only by the difficult ones.
