Summary of our best tips on safety and prevention in summer

Since before summer began we have been giving Health and prevention advice for families with children. Now we want to bring them all together in this summary, so that we face with prudence and security these last weeks of summer.

It is true that we are already in the middle of August, but it is also true that many of you are starting the holidays, and that others will start them very soon; without counting all those who (with the summer rest already behind their backs) we do not resign ourselves to stop enjoying the summer season with the children.

We have told you that one in three child accidents occur in summer; and to prevent them in this or other stations, we have presented a Decalogue of the most necessary.

But above all we have talked about very specific topics such as risk avoidance associated to the aquatic environment; or the awareness of fatal accidents from heat stroke when we leave a child in a closed car with a high ambient temperature.

We remember the care of atopic skin in summer. And we remember how to prevent skin cancer; This issue has given much since it was necessary to answer questions about the application of sun creams, and explain that they do not prevent 100% skin cancer.

As you know, We usually remember a lot about food, and about its relationship with healthy development. That is why it is worth remembering that recommendations on diet and physical exercise during childhood are not being followed. And by the way, for those of you interested, this guide aimed at planning healthy breakfasts and snacks may help you. Let us forget that children are usually not well hydrated.

More on food with the advice not to go over ice cream. And with the prevention of intestinal infections (for which food hygiene and its preparation is essential).

I give a small jump to allergies, with this wonderful interview with Marian García about prevention and treatment of insect bites; and with these recommendations to ensure the protection of allergic children in camps.

I will end with three unrelated entries that are part of this summary. When talking about prevention or health, sometimes we associate them with the physical component of people, so this entry on the abuse of technology by adolescents deserves to be rescued. And on the other hand that hygiene in almost adolescent children, which sometimes seems that parents would want more, and they ... are soon satisfied. We also talk about infections in the feet of the kids.

So far the summary and recommendations, I hope they serve you. We will continue to worry about these issues in Peques and More.
