Japan plans to outlaw possession of child pornography (It is the only G7 country that is not prohibited). Last Wednesday, during a parliamentary committee, the main political parties agreed on a draft that is expected to be transferred to the Senate after being approved by the current parliamentary session (ending June 22).
The sanctions will not be applied until one year after the new law comes into force. But nevertheless, the legislation will not include animated drawings or videos, nor will manga comics. This is due to the enormous pressure from the publishing and computer content industry, as well as from well-known cartoonists and illustrators. Imagine the economic impact of extending the ban for producers and publishers: 30 percent of the manga industry is of erotic content, which in many cases it reflects sex with (or among minors).
Now is when it is possible to reflect, because on the one hand it is argued that the recreations do not violate the rights of any minor (I have something to object to, I comment below). And on the other hand, limiting child pornography is done so as not to violate the rights of participating minors, without a doubt, and it is the first objective to achieve, but sex scenes between adults and children are not disturbing even if they are cartoons?
In fact, the groups that favor expanding the scope of the law, argue that these products can promote negative behavior stereotypes
The objection that I comment above is the following: the exposure of a minor to pornography is typified as sexual abuse; It is here that I doubt that the rights of children are not violated, when they access these contents.
Let us now return to the next Law to be passed, a step forward, no doubt; and is that the number of minors identified in pornographic productions it was in 2013 of 646, according to data from the Japanese police (one only already makes my hair stand on end).
