Traveling by car, children better without a coat

It's very cold, and you may not feel like taking off your coat before getting in the car. But we must ensure that children go in the child restraint system without thick coats, since excess clothing on the body could unfasten the belt.

For good safety, the harnesses that hold the child to the SRI must be properly adjusted, and too many layers of clothing or a thick coat can give a sense of false support.

Like is logic, the way the child fits in the chair changes when he wears warm clothes, since the belts do not adapt in the same way to the constitution of the body. This increases the chances that the child will get fired before a blow or sudden braking.

The Buenos Aires Sustainable Mobility Plan tells us that "The child must travel without warm clothes in the SRI, since this can cause the false feeling that it is correctly adjusted."

And a recent report by the Chevrolet car firm has also warned that taking children in child seats in the car with their coat on during the winter can negatively affect their safety.

The key is that the seat belt should be at all times as close to the child's body (and this applies equally to adults and their seat belts). In this way children travel safer by car.

To avoid this belt mismatch, it is best that the child go without the coat in the child restraint system. So that they do not go cold we can warm the car a little before it rises, and place the coat on top like a blanket (or, better, have a specific blanket for it in winter).
