His son took tetanus without being vaccinated and now they regret

Terrible this news that I bring you today for two reasons, one, that a child went from being healthy to having to learn to eat and walk again because of an illness and two, because the disease I am talking about is the tetanus Y, if he had been vaccinated, he would have most likely been spared.

The boy I'm talking about is Alijah Williams, seven, who took tetanus last year, before Christmas. Alijah was not vaccinated because his parents, Ian and Linda, worried about the adverse reactions that vaccines could cause to their three children, decided not to. Now, as expected, they are sorry and they never tire of advising parents to look for information to protect children from diseases such as tetanus or whooping cough.

It all happened just over a month ago, when Alijah contracted tetanus. He woke up one morning with general malaise. At 36 hours he suffered spasmsI could not swallow and suffered a lot of pain. He was admitted to hospital intensive care Starship from New Zealand, where they decided to induce coma to control spasms and pain.

After almost a month admitted, he left the wheelchair to continue his recovery at home. She still has spasms and therefore she must continue taking medication, but she can already be with her family at home, where she should start now an intense recovery that will help you learn to walk and eat again.

Alijah has two brothers, so as soon as they knew what he had, the parents took their other children to vaccinate and also contacted the school to inform the other parents of the child's illness and to vaccinate their children as well.

It’s not that nobody really was in danger, because Tetanus is not spread, but that is perhaps precisely why it is one of the most dangerous diseases. Because of the group's immunity, if many children are vaccinated and you do not vaccinate yours, it is quite unlikely that they will catch a contagious disease, because there are no children who can spread it. If we talk about a non-contagious disease such as tetanus, it is indifferent that other children are vaccinated or not, because Tetanus is taken only by one.

His father, Ian Williamos said the following about it:

It was we who put our son in this situation. Parents like us make the decision not to vaccinate based on very little objective information about the consequences of diseases, such as generalized pain, disability and death, and a lot of non-objective and emotional information that comes from the Internet, which gives figures inflated on adverse reactions and conspiracy theories about "evil" doctors, governments and pharmaceutical companies.

Undoubtedly, a joy that Alijah is alive, well 10% of people who get tetanus just die, but a pity that is in the situation that is for not having a vaccine that begins to be administered at two months of age.

Hopefully, as we always say, that rehabilitation bears fruit and that the child I can make a normal life soon, as normal as the one he wore before contracting tetanus.
