The Government will eliminate orphanages for children under 6 years old

These days a very good news has been published for children who do not have parents or whose parents do not take care of them and for all those couples who want to adopt small children: Government plans to eliminate orphanages for children under 6.

With this measure Children under three will go directly to a family's home and those between three and six years will have priority over the older ones.

The goal is to prevent such young children from growing up without a family, since it is estimated that there are now about 40,000 children of those ages in a situation of helplessness.

Everything is still to be defined, but yesterday the first step was taken with a preliminary bill that according to the Ministry of Health and Social Policy is very “agreed”.

As stated, the intention is to make adoptions simpler and faster, since, among other things, preadoptive foster care will be eliminated.

In addition, it will also be authorized that all those over 18 who live stably with foster families can be adopted. The current legislation, which dates back to the year 96, did not contemplate the possibility that the adults could be adopted or accepted, so they had to be self-sufficient and economically independent, which caused many to end up committing crimes (without parents they could hardly survive by their own means).

Without a doubt, this is good news for all children who are not lucky enough to be born under the protection of parents who take care of them and who until now ended up in institutions that, No matter how well I took care of them, they couldn't replace some parents and good news for all those couples who decide to become parents through adoption. "Finally", surely everyone will say.
