3 models of bottles removed due to suffocation risk in Andalusia

The Consumer Administration of the Junta de Andalucía has ordered the withdrawal of 3 models of bottles that imply choking hazard for children. As reported by the Federation of Consumers in Action (Facua), which has warned about these models, it is "because their teats can break or detach easily."

Specifically, the bottles are 3 well-known brands. These are two models of the brands Philips Avent (125 ml., with reference SCF640 / 17), imported by Philips Ibérica, and Tommee Tippee (150 ml.), From Visofar, whose teats can break easily. In the third, of the brand Baby marmax (model 499), the nipple can come out of its housing.

These models, distributed throughout Spain and many other countries, have been included in the alert network of unsafe non-food products due to the incidences observed in the analyzes and tests with these bottles that an Andalusian laboratory has carried out.

The manufacturing companies have been surprised with the announcement and defend themselves claiming that they meet all quality standards. They question the results obtained by the laboratory, and ensure that their products are safe and comply with safety standards.

The unfortunate thing about these cases is that it is very likely that finally the consumer, seeing these "dimes and diretes", ends up distrusting both one and the other. It should regulate more firmly the control of these children's products, with transparent and independent analyzes and clear and public results so as not to diminish consumer confidence.

For now, Facua reports that those who own any of these bottles have the right to product replacement, which can be requested from the establishment where they bought it or, if not possible, from the manufacturer.
