What food do children receive?

The Mediterranean Diet Foundation conducts the Children's Workshop on Mediterranean Diet Cooking throughout the country, the aim is that by introducing the little ones in the culinary tasks, helping to prepare the food and being present during its preparation, it helps you to know Food and accept them to a better degree.

At the moment they have participated in these workshops that are held in schools, more than 2,500 children, they have learned a lot, they have known how important it is to eat healthy, the food groups there are, how many times you have to eat, fish, vegetables, etc. .

But they have also shown us how the issue of nutrition education in homes is, after responding to a survey, the data surprises everyone: there are many children (and talk about children up to 11 years old) who still do not know spinach, have never tried an orange or have never enjoyed a tomato salad. The figures are alarming, we do not imagine the faces of teachers and professionals of the FDM when the children told them that they had never tried certain foods that were inside the recipe they had to make in the workshop, “The salad of the Mediterranean forest ”consisting of spinach, asparagus, tomato, onion, orange, black olives, carrots, pine nuts, tuna in olive oil and oil vinaigrette, vinegar and raspberry jam.

Where are those parents who care about the health of their children? They don't know spinach, but surely they do know what a "bollycao" is.

We reiterate what we have said on other occasions, many parents need to teach them about nutrition so that they can transfer it to their children, every time they hear more that it is the children who give lessons to their parents.
