Measles Attention

Although the health authorities still do not qualify as an alarm, it is true that there are a measles outbreak in Europe and the United States that increases in new cases day by day.

Far, or rather forgotten, is the goal of completely eradicating this infectious disease by 2007, as planned.

I don't want to alarm anyone, but I do warn them to be cautious, especially for pregnant women and mothers of young children (under 15 months) who have not yet been vaccinated.

I just saw in the news the case of a girl with measles who infected several nursery classmates because the center did not inform the rest of the parents that the girl had this disease.

And that in La Rioja the focus of the disease occurred in a health center where a sick pediatrician infected several babies he treated with measles. Vaccination and having suffered the disease in childhood immunizes people, but suffering from measles during pregnancy can have serious consequences for the fetus, even causing abortions and premature births. In addition, it is a very risky disease for children under fifteen months who have not yet received the vaccine.

According to Public Health, if the number of cases increased, the highest risk groups would be vaccinated and vaccination in babies would be advanced to the seventh month of life, although it is still not considered necessary.
