The beautiful and incredible photograph of a birth in water that Facebook had censored (but later published again)

I have always been fascinated by birth photographs. They seem to me such powerful and impressive images, who manage to capture that moment full of emotions, a moment so raw, so real, so natural. The beginning of a new life.

However, for some people the images of a birth are annoying or unpleasant and when they are published on social networks, they are reported and many of them end up being deleted. This had been the case with a beautiful photograph of a water birth, captured by the photographer Marijke Thoen, in which we can see the older sister meet her new younger brother.

If you have seen other publications of birth pictures in Babies and more, perhaps they are familiar with the name of Marijke Thoen, because she took the picture that won in 2016 the competition organized by the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers and that we shared last year.

Once again, this talented photographer from Belgium leaves us shocked with a beautiful and impressive photograph of a birth in water, in which we can see the older sister meet her younger brother.

In an interview for HuffPost UK Marijke He commented that this had been the most beautiful birth he had seen in the almost 10 years he has been working as a birth photographer.

Facebook censures the photo, but then corrects its error

Marijke liked the picture so much that he shared it on his Facebook page, accompanied by a message he read "Probably my favorite shot of the birth in water last night ... The younger sister meets her baby brother".

The photograph immediately went viral, but soon, Marijke received a message from Facebook, telling him that his photograph had been deleted because it was too explicit and they had even blocked his account.

Fortunately, with the help of several media outlets in Belgium and the Netherlands, fellow photographers and many supporters who defended and re-shared the image of Marijke, the publication of the photo reappeared on Facebook and they even sent him a message apologizing for having deleted it.

Thus, after 24 hours of having his account locked, Marijke returned to thank everyone for their support, in a post that reminds us that "Pregnancy is beautiful and natural, and should not be censored".

The beautiful story of the now famous water birth

In addition to the impressive photograph in which Marijke captures the moment when a tender girl meets her new younger brother, the story of the family that appears in the picture is a very beautiful one.

Do you remember that I told you that this photographer had won the prize for the best birth photography in 2016? It turns out that The baby in that winning photograph is just the girl who has now become an older sister.

Also, the lady we see in the picture holding the girl while she is crouching for the first time watching her baby brother, It is his maternal grandmother, who was the doula during childbirth, while his maternal grandfather was the doctor who received his brother. Isn't it true that this story makes photography even more beautiful and moving?
