Work, pump, repeat. Photographs illustrating the day to day of nursing mothers at work

Work, pump, repeat (work, pump, repeat) is really the title of a book written by Jessica Shortall, mother of two children and Director of the company "Giving for TOMS Shoes" who has had it for five years going around the world attached to a breast pump. Today she writes about breastfeeding in various newspapers and is an activist for the rights of nursing mothers and for the improvement of maternity leave in her country, USA.

The following series of photographs has been used as a promotion for his book and shows the day-to-day problems of nursing mothers at work and everything they have to go through.

Jessica tries to criticize the different situations that a mother goes through at work, always from a satirical point, but making it clear that things are not for simple. We are sure of it and sure that many of you will have seen yourself in similar situations, many of which would have a solution if the authorities and the employers put a little of their part and really cared about their employees.

Unexpected and sometimes inevitable drips

You think you are making the presentation of your life when you start to notice some excess moisture.

Thank you for the "comfortable" HR room

It is clear that in many offices there will be no possibility of enabling adequate breastfeeding rooms and with a minimum of comfort, but in those that if possible should be put the necessary means so that the extraction can be made as comfortable as possible and with certain minimums of privacy.

Lack of empathy and understanding from coworkers

The jokes in the office help to distend the environment and make everything more bearable, but they can become heavy and annoying. Lack of tact and consideration is also something that many mothers must deal with.

Never, never use or take out in public the elements of a mother's breast pump, nor is it a toy nor is it something of your business.

Milk cans stored in the fridge are food for a baby, if you run out of milk in the store you have more. And of course do not ask if you can get a little, what you are doing is make yourself ridiculous, we have fabric that must be explained at this point.

Uncomfortable situations

Having to wash the elements of the breast pump in the sink of the cafeteria room or in the ladies' bathroom and have someone enter. And that you are lucky that you do not enter the funny office and release one of yours.

That you drop your suitcase with everything in the middle of the office or in the entrance hall. Maybe when we normalize breastfeeding these situations do not differ when you drop your bag.

That you have normalized but not the rest of the office. Err ... What is that you have in your hand?
